location
Weisbrunn is located about five kilometers southeast of the main town in the Steigerwald . State road 2274 runs west of the village .
history
The place was first mentioned in a document in 1303. The place used to be called "Wizbrunne" (place at the white fountain). This was followed by the place name "Witzenbrunnen", then "Weisbrunne". Colloquially used names are also "Krackenhofen" or "Blackbird-City", which humorously refer to the crows that frequently occur in the area .
Weisbrunn was a school district with Dippach and Eschenbach until 1840 . A school was built afterwards. The church was built in 1877 and dedicated to John the Baptist . The village has had its own cemetery since 1932. The St. Mary's Grotto from 1908 was converted into a memorial in 1953 .
On July 1, 1971, the previously independent community was incorporated into the city of Eltmann.
societies
In the village there is the volunteer fire brigade , a fruit and horticultural association that regularly offers leisure activities for children (e.g. Easter hunt, handicraft courses) and adults (excursions, spring festivals), the Kracken Weisbrunn carnival club , a kindergarten association, the Kerwas Bum and the Brass band Musikverein Weisbrunn .
