history

At the beginning of the 19th century Holzhausen was a Ganerbendorf . It had 58 residential buildings. Twelve of them were inhabited subjects of Sachsen-Hildburghausen . Subjects of the Hochstift Würzburg , the Mariaburghausen monastery and the Lords of Münster lived in the other houses . Sachsen-Hildburghausen owned the high and low jurisdiction. According to a state treaty between the Grand Duchy of Würzburg and the Duchy of Saxony-Hildburghausen, Holzhausen, which previously belonged to the Saxon office of Königsberg, was ceded to Würzburg in 1807. In 1814, the Grand Duchy of Würzburg largely reverted to Bavaria .

In 1862 Holzhausen was incorporated into the newly created royal Bavarian district office in Haßfurt . The rural community consisted of the parish village of Holzhausen and the wasteland of Riedmühle, two kilometers away . In 1871 the main town had 417 inhabitants, all but seven of whom professed the Lutheran faith. A Protestant denominational school and the Protestant parish were located in Holzhausen. The 677.34 hectare community had 402 residents and 83 residential buildings. 387 people lived in 82 residential buildings in the parish village. In 1925, 376 people, 5 of whom were Catholic, lived in 82 residential buildings in Holzhausen.

In 1950 the main town had 531 residents and 84 residential buildings. The Catholics belonged to the parish Mechenried . In 1961, Holzhausen counted 398 people and 87 residential buildings. In 1970 there were 349 residents and in 1987 314 residents and 99 residential buildings with 114 apartments.

On July 1, 1972, the Haßfurt district was dissolved as part of the regional reform and Holzhausen became part of the Haßberg district. On May 1, 1978, the municipality of Holzhausen was incorporated into the city of Königsberg.
