Ensemble old town Königsberg in Bavaria and Schlossberg
The small country town of Königsberg in Bavaria ( Lage ), located on the western edge of the Haßberge , was probably built on the ground of an old Franconian royal domain in the immediate vicinity of the Rennweg and secured the transition over the Haßberge. The place, first mentioned in 1234, received market rights in 1333 and became a city in 1358 . Since 1400 it belonged to the Landgraves of Thuringia from the House of Wettin and remained a Saxon enclave almost without interruption until it was annexed to Bavaria (1920).
The first city wall is documented in 1343 . During the whole of the 15th century, the extension of the city and the enlargement of the city fortifications were built; the former suburbs, the Haßfurt and Unfinder suburbs, were also included by palisade walls. Essentially only wall sections in the south between the palace and Pfarrgasse remain of the fortifications, the Haßfurter and Unfinder gates of the gates. From 1764 the removal of the fortifications and leveling of the trenches had begun; the gardens created at that time still describe the old city outline today. Due to its hillside location, the town's ground plan appears irregular, but an order of main axes in the longitudinal and transverse direction is evident, with side streets running parallel.
Eduard-Lingel-Strasse, leading from Haßfurter Tor over Wintergasse to the market, forms the most important west-east street axis, from which the Marienstrasse, which also leads to the market, branches off. The Markt and Salzmarkt group of squares creates an axis running north-south. The market square, located in the northeast corner of the city center, is the municipal, ecclesiastical and urban center of the city with the town hall and parish church. The square in front of the late Gothic three-aisled hall church, occupied by a fountain, merges in a splendid way into the elongated salt market that rises to the Schlossberg. With the Unfinder Tor, the market is limited to the Unfinder suburb, which extends to the cemetery church in front of the city and is part of the ensemble.
After two major city fires during the Thirty Years War , in 1632 and 1640, large parts of the city were destroyed. The rich existence of eaves-sided and also gable - independent half-timbered houses preserve a building throughout the city that is reminiscent of the city's heyday in the late 17th and 18th centuries. After this time the importance of the city declined, it changed from a city of trade and industry to a city that had to turn more and more to agriculture .

Ensemble town center Unfind
The parish village ( Lage ), only one kilometer north of Königsberg in Bavaria, first mentioned in 1241, as a Ganerbendorf, was owned simultaneously by various noble families for centuries. The wealth of stately half-timbered buildings, predominantly from the 18th century, and the numerous noble coats of arms, which testify to the old rulership rights, determine the high degree of unity of the village and show that the character of the clustered village, which has barely expanded, has been changing since the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. 19th Century has changed little. Around 1800, viticulture, in addition to grain growing, cattle breeding and others, was still significant, as the grapes in the wedge of the town hall portal (1782) testify to. Today it plays only a minor role for the village, which has become a district of Königsberg since the regional reform. Boundary: the entire village east of the state road from Königsberg to Junkersdorf - house no. 1-96. File number: E-6-74-164-2.

Remarks
- ↑ This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The property of a monument - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the Monument Atlas and the entry in the Bavarian Monument List. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
