geography
Hofstetten is a typical street village. The center of the village is the former school, which was expanded as a clubhouse. Formerly characterized by agriculture, Hofstetten still has two part-time farmers. The most important local clubs are the Hofstetten brass band, founded in 1965, and the Hofstetten volunteer fire department. Hofstetten belongs to the parish of Jesserndorf . St. Anna is the church patroness of the village. In 2010, a sandstone statue depicting the Holy Family was erected in front of St. Anne's Church.
history
The place name means "at the farms". Probably after a period of desertification, the name Neudorf had become naturalized. In 1135 Hofstetten was mentioned for the first time indirectly with the witness "Hermann von Hopestetten" in a document from Bishop Otto of Bamberg . In 1244 it was mentioned in a document when Ludwig von Raueneck handed over goods to the Würzburg bishop in "Houesteten".
Hofstetten was an independent municipality in the district of Ebern . On July 1, 1972, it was incorporated into the small town of Königsberg in Bavaria .
