Jesserndorf is part of the municipality of the Lower Franconian town of Ebern in the Haßberge district .

geography

The parish village is located in the eastern part of the district in a valley through which the Jesserndorfer Bach, which flows into the Preppach, flows. The state road 2778 from Königsberg in Bavaria to Ebern leads past the place.

history

The place name probably goes back to the personal name of the place founder "Jazo" or "Jeso". In 1154, Jesserndorf was first mentioned indirectly with the witness "Heinrich von Gezendorff" in a document from Bamberg's Bishop Eberhard II von Otelingen . In 1232 it was mentioned in the certificate of partition of the Würzburg Prince-Bishop Hermann , in which Ebern was separated from the parish Pfarrweisach and "Gesendorff" came to Ebern. In 1317/22 Wolfram von Rotenhan received four estates in "Jesendorf". In 1446 Jesserndorf was raised to an independent parish.

In 1862, the rural community of Jesserndorf , which had been independent since 1818, was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian district office of Ebern . In 1871 the parish village had 185 inhabitants, of whom 121 were Catholics and 64 Protestants, and 43 residential buildings. Both Christian denominations each owned a church and a school in the village. In 1900, the 514.52 hectare community had 195 residents and 41 residential buildings. In 1925 195 people, of whom 133 were Catholics, lived in 40 residential buildings in Jesserndorf.

In 1950 Jesserndorf had 256 residents and 42 residential buildings. In 1961 the parish village had 215 residents and 44 residential buildings. In 1970 there were 203 and 1987 202 inhabitants and 58 residential buildings with 66 apartments.

On April 1, 1971, the community Weißenbrunn with its community parts, the wastes Obere Mühle and Straßenhof, was incorporated into Jesserndorf. On July 1, 1972, as part of the regional reform, the district of Ebern was dissolved and Jesserndorf became part of the Haßberg district. Six years later, on May 1, 1978, it was incorporated into Ebern.

In 2002, Jesserndorf was the district winner in the national competition " Our village should be more beautiful ".

Catholic parish church

Jesserndorf is one of the few villages in Lower Franconia where churches of two Christian denominations have stood since the middle of the 19th century. The core of the older church, the Roman Catholic parish church of St. Antonius the Hermit, dates from the late Middle Ages . The church tower is dated to the 15th century. In 1886/87 today's nave and the retracted west choir were added as a sandstone block with neo-Romanesque structures.

The Evangelical Lutheran parish church was built in 1857/58 according to plans by parish vicar Johann Lorenz Kessler. Before that, the Jesserndorf Vicariate was founded in 1855 as a branch of the parish Eyrichshof . The services initially took place in Weißenbrunn Palace. The church is a neo-Gothic hall building with 150 seats. It consists of sandstone blocks, has a gable roof and a facade tower with a pyramid roof. The two-storey rectory facing the street is attached . In 1908 the vicariate was elevated to an independent parish. In 1972 the parish was incorporated into the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Ebern.

A total of twelve architectural monuments are listed in the Bavarian Monument List .
