Bischwind am Raueneck (officially: Bischwind a. Raueneck ) is part of the municipality of the Lower Franconian town of Ebern in the Haßberge district .

geography

The church village is located in the eastern part of the district in a valley through which the Brno Dorfbach, a right tributary of the Baunach , flows. The district roads HAS 49 from Hohnhausen to Fischbach and HAS 50 from Albersdorf to Leuzendorf in Lower Franconia lead through the village.

history

The place name indicates the foundation by Frankish settlers. The place name means at the turns of the bishop.

The first mention of Bischwind was indirectly in 1151 with "Rovdolfus de biscofheswineden" as a witness in a Bamberg document. This is questionable, however, since the place with Bischwind near Heilgersdorf and Bischwind near Gerolzhofen cannot be easily distinguished in older documents. In 1231 a Hartung von Bischwind and his four sons were named among the Bamberg servants. In 1232 it was named in the certificate of division of the Würzburg prince-bishop Hermann , in which Ebern was separated from the parish of Pfarrweisach and "Bischoffswinden" remained with Pfarrweisach. In 1351 Apel Fuchs received a quarter of the tithe in "Bischofswinden" ( sub castro Bramberg ).

In 1862, the rural community of Bischwind , which had been independent since 1818, was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian district office of Ebern . In 1871 the church village had 300 inhabitants, 220 of whom were Catholics and 80 Protestants, and 52 residential buildings. The Catholics belonged to the district of the parish of Jesserndorf , which is 5.0 kilometers away , and the Protestants to the parish of Burgpreppach, 3.5 kilometers away . A Catholic denominational school was in the place. In 1900, the 762.79 hectare community had 263 residents and 48 residential buildings. In 1925, 274 people, 214 of whom were Catholics, lived in 50 residential buildings in Bischwind.

In 1950, Bischwind had 350 residents and 50 residential buildings. In 1961 the church village had 300 residents and 51 residential buildings. In 1970 there were 306 inhabitants and in 1987 246 inhabitants as well as 56 residential buildings with 57 apartments.

On July 1, 1972, the district Ebern was dissolved as part of the regional reform , and Bischwind came to the Haßberg district. About four years later, on January 1, 1976, it was incorporated into Ebern.

Bischwind had seven full-time farmers in 2017.
