Siegelfeld is part of the municipality of the Lower Franconian town of Ebern in the Haßberge district .

geography

The village is located in the eastern part of the district in the Baunachgrund, to the left of the Baunach , in a small valley at the foot of an elongated ridge of the Haßberge. Ebern is about three kilometers to the southeast. The federal road 279 from Fulda to Breitengüßbach passes west about a kilometer away.

history

The place was initially called Krottenbach. After its destruction it was rebuilt and named Siegelfeld. The first documented mention was in 1232 in the certificate of division of the Würzburg bishop Hermann , in which Ebern was separated from the parish Pfarrweisach and among other things "Krozenbach" came to the parish Ebern. In 1435 "Sigel Feldt" belonged to the centering boars. In 1495 Hans von Rotenhan received the small village "zum Sigelfelth". In 1581 the church of Ebern owned property from the Lords of Rotenhan in "Sichelfeld" as a fief . In 1742 the von Rotenhan had subjects in the "Siegelfeld".

1862 was rural community Eyrichshof consisting of seven places, the parish village Eyrichshof, the three hamlets seal field Rotenhan and short wind and three wastes , paper mill Sachsenhof and specks in the newly created Bavarian district office boars incorporated. Siegelfeld had 61 inhabitants in 1871. In 1900 the 573.75 hectare parish had 239 inhabitants, 230 of whom were Protestants and 8 were Catholics. 56 people lived in 14 residential buildings in the Protestant seal field. The responsible Protestant parish and denominational school was located in the neighboring village of Eyrichshof, 1.5 kilometers away. In 1925, 50 people lived in 12 residential buildings in the hamlet.

In 1950 Siegelfeld, now classified as a village, had 69 residents and 11 residential buildings. The Catholics belonged to the parish of Ebern. In 1970 there were 41 and in 1987 there were 42 residents and 11 residential buildings with 15 apartments.

On July 1, 1971, Siegelfeld and Eyrichshof were incorporated into Ebern. On July 1, 1972, as part of the regional reform, the district of Ebern was dissolved and Siegelfeld became part of the Haßberg district.

The Protestant residents belong to the district of the parish Eyrichshof with parish seat in Fischbach , the Catholic to the district of the parish of St. Laurentius in Ebern.
