history

The place name is derived from the personal name Kotzo, "at the winds ( Wends ) of the Kotzo". The first mention of the place was in 1225, when the Würzburg bishop Hermann confirmed a donation to the monastery Banz in "Kotzenwind". For several centuries, village lords were the lords of Rotenhan . In 1346 Wolfram von Rotenhan received the tithe in "Kotzenzüge". In 1412 Albrecht von Rotenhan owned the little village "Kotzenhaben" as a fief . In 1618 the Rotenhan had a farm at "Cotzenwind".

1862 was rural community Eyrichshof consisting of seven places, the parish village Eyrichshof, the three hamlets Short wind, seal field and Rotenhan and the three wastes , paper mill Sachsenhof and specks in the newly created Bavarian district office boars incorporated. Kurzewind had 67 inhabitants in 1871. In 1900 the 573.75 hectare parish had 239 inhabitants, 230 of whom were Protestants and 8 were Catholics. In the Protestant Kurzewind 45 people lived in 12 residential buildings. The responsible Protestant parish and denominational school was located in the neighboring village of Eyrichshof, 2.5 kilometers away. In 1925, 47 people lived in 8 residential buildings in the hamlet. The Catholic school and parish was in Gereuth, 2.0 kilometers away.

In 1950 Kurzewind had 59 residents and 8 residential buildings. In 1970 there were 43 residents in the hamlet and in 1987 30 residents and 8 residential buildings with 9 apartments.

On July 1, 1971 Eyrichshof was incorporated with Kurzewind after Ebern. On July 1, 1972, as part of the regional reform, the Ebern district was dissolved and Kurzewind became part of the Haßberg district.

The Protestant residents belong to the district of the parish Eyrichshof with parish seat in Fischbach , the Catholic to the district of the parish of St. Philippus in Gereuth.
