Eichelberg is part of the municipality of the Lower Franconian town of Ebern in the Haßberge district .

geography

The street village is located in the eastern part of the district in a side valley of the Baunachgrund , about four kilometers southwest of Ebern at the foot of the 388 meter high Eichelberg. The Eichelbach, a right tributary of the Baunach, flows through the place. The district road HAS 51 from Ebern to Reutersbrunn passes north.

history

The place name Eichelberg can be equated in its interpretation with the "mountain on which there were acorns ". Acorns were of great importance for pig fattening and thus for the farmers, which is why the hill was named after them. The job title was later transferred to the settlement.

The first documentary mention was in 1232 in the certificate of division of the Würzburg bishop Hermann , in which Ebern was separated from the parish Pfarrweisach and among other things "Eichelberg" came to the parish Ebern. In 1355 Johannes von Rotenhan received the tithe to Eichelberg. In 1530, "Eychelberg" paid the Rotenhan.

In 1828 Eichelberg was incorporated into the Landgemeinde and in 1862 into the newly created Bavarian District Office Ebern . In 1871 the village had 148 inhabitants, 105 of whom were Protestants, and 28 were residential buildings. It belonged to the Protestant parish in Rentweinsdorf , 3.5 kilometers away , where the Protestant denominational school was also located. In 1900 the 263 hectare community had 135 inhabitants and 31 residential buildings, and in 1925 153 people, 33 of whom were Catholic, lived in Eichelberg in 30 residential buildings. The responsible Catholic parish was 4.0 kilometers away in Ebern, the Catholic denominational school in Reutersbrunn, 1.5 kilometers away. In 1950 the village had 217 inhabitants and 32 residential buildings, the schools were in Heubach and Reutersbrunn. In 1961 Eichelberg had 158 residents and 35 residential buildings. The Catholics belonged to the parish Unterpreppach . In 1970 there were 184 and 1987 174 inhabitants and 38 residential buildings with 49 apartments.

On April 1, 1971, Eichelberg was incorporated into Ebern . On July 1, 1972, as part of the regional reform, the district of Ebern was dissolved and Eichelberg came with Ebern to the Haßberg district.
