history

The place name means place at the bright spring .

The first documentary mention was in 1232 in the certificate of division of the Würzburg bishop Hermann , in which Ebern was separated from the parish Pfarrweisach and among other things "Wisebrunnen" came to the parish Ebern. In 1244 Ludwig von Raueneck gave the Würzburg bishop goods in "Wizenbrunnen". In 1317 Apel and Götz Fuchs got a farm in "Wizenbrunnen". In 1548 Georg Christoph Fuchs got the farm in "Weisbrunn" as a Würzburg fief . For centuries the owners of the manor were the village lords.

In 1821 Weißenbrunn became a rural community and in 1862 it was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian District Office Ebern . The rural community consisted of four places, Weißenbrunn and three wastelands , the upper mill 1.5 kilometers away, the lower mill 2.0 kilometers away and the street courtyard 1.0 kilometers away. The parish had 119 inhabitants in 1871, of whom 71 were Catholics and 48 Protestants, and 26 residential buildings. The 101 inhabitants of Weißenbrunn belonged to the Catholic and Protestant parishes in Jesserndorf , 2.0 kilometers away , where the two denominational schools were also located. In 1900 the place had 95 residents and 22 residential buildings. In 1925, 111 people, 90 of whom were Catholic, lived in the 201.39 hectare community of Weißenbrunn in 25 residential buildings. The place itself had 89 residents and 21 residential buildings.

In 1950 the Untere Mühle was no longer part of the municipality and the village had 92 residents and 19 residential buildings. In 1961 Weißenbrunn had 94 inhabitants and 18 residential buildings. In 1970 there were 84 and in 1987 60 inhabitants and 19 residential buildings with 21 apartments.

On April 1, 1971, the community of Weißenbrunn with its districts, the wastes Obere Mühle and Straßenhof, was incorporated into Jesserndorf. On July 1, 1972, as part of the regional reform, the district Ebern and Weißenbrunn was dissolved and Jesserndorf became part of the Haßberg district. Six years later, on May 1, 1978, it was incorporated into Ebern.
