Brno is part of the Lower Franconian town of Ebern in the Haßberge district .

geography

The village is located in the eastern part of the district. The Brno Dorfbach flows through the village and flows into the Baunach . Rauheneck Castle is located about two kilometers southeast of the village, on the western foothills of the 431-meter-high Haubeberg . The district roads HAS 48, from Bramberg to Kraisdorf , and HAS 49, from Hohnhausen to Fischbach , lead through Brno.

history

The place name probably goes back to the location at a strong spring, well.

Brno was mentioned for the first time indirectly in 1126 with "Herolt de Brunnen" as a witness in a Banzer document . The next mention followed in 1231 in a deed of donation from the Würzburg prince-bishop Hermann , with the local nobles "Jutta uxor Heinrici de Brunnen" as witnesses. 1232 was mentioned in the certificate of partition of the Würzburg bishop Hermann, in which Ebern was separated from the parish Pfarrweisach and "Brunen" remained with the mother church Pfarrweisach. In 1244 Ludewicus de Ruhenecke handed over goods in "Brunne" to the Bishop of Würzburg.

In the middle of the 16th century Brno was a Ganerbendorf . A third of the village belonged to the Würzburg monastery , the rest to the Duke of Saxony and Franconian knights of the knightly canton of Baunach . These were among others the lords of Lichtenstein , Altenstein and Rotenhan . In 1770 Brno had 75 inhabitants and in 1830 110 inhabitants, 87 of whom were Protestant.

Old school house

In 1848 a new parish hall was built, which was converted into a schoolhouse in 1857. In 1862 the rural community of Brno with the towns of Brno and Frickendorf was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian district office of Ebern . The place had 168 inhabitants in 1871. He belonged to the Protestant parish in Eyrichshof, 6.0 kilometers away, and to the Catholic parish in Pfarrweisach, 4.5 kilometers away. An evangelical denominational school was alternately located in the village and, like the Catholic school, in Kraisdorf , 2.0 kilometers away . In 1892 the volunteer fire brigade was founded. In 1900 the 600.27 hectare rural community of Brno with its two towns had 261 inhabitants, 160 of whom were Protestant. 158 people lived in 31 residential buildings in Brno. In 1925 there were 168 people in 29 residential buildings.

In 1950 the village had 259 residents and 30 residential buildings. It still belonged to the Catholic parish in Pfarrweisach and the Protestant parish in Eyrichshof. In 1954 the community officially opened a new school building. In 1956 the old school house was inaugurated as the “house of the farmer's wife” after a renovation. In 1961 Brno had 173 inhabitants and 31 residential buildings. In 1970 there were 144 and 1987 118 inhabitants and 30 residential buildings with 34 apartments.

On July 1, 1972, Brno was incorporated into Ebern. At the same time, as part of the regional reform , the place came from the dissolved district of Ebern to the new Haßberg district.

In 1976 a kindergarten was inaugurated in the former schoolhouse from 1954.
