geography
The village is located in the eastern part of the district in Baunachgrund , about 1.5 kilometers southwest of Ebern. The Eichelbach, a right tributary of the Baunach, flows through the place. The districts on this side and on the other side of the stream are popularly referred to as Ober- and Unterheubach. The federal road 279 leads east past Heubach. The district road HAS 51 from Ebern to Reutersbrunn runs through the village.
history
The place name possibly goes back to the Middle High German word heie for "Hobiliation, cherished forest".
The first documentary mention was in 1231, when the Würzburg Bishop Hermann Ludwig von Ruhenecke returned goods in "Heinebach". The next mention followed in 1232 in the certificate of partition of the Würzburg bishop Hermann , in which Ebern was separated from the parish Pfarrweisach and among other things "hipach" came to the parish Ebern. In 1433 Nikolaus von Hohnhausen had to pay interest to von Rotenhan for his fields in “Heipach” . In 1582 the Lords of Rotenhan received a farm in “Heibach” as a Würzburg fief . In the 16th century, the place was a large rural settlement and a Ganerbendorf .
In 1828 Heubach was incorporated into the rural community and in 1862 into the newly created Bavarian district office of Ebern . In 1871 the village had 160 inhabitants, of whom 157 were Protestants, and 38 were residential buildings. It belonged to the Protestant parish in Rentweinsdorf , 2.5 kilometers away , where the Protestant denominational school was also located. In 1900 the 326 hectare community had 137 inhabitants and 36 residential buildings and in 1925 159 people, 7 of whom were Catholic, lived in Heubach in 33 residential buildings. The responsible Catholic parish was 1.8 kilometers away in Ebern. In 1950 the village had 244 residents and 31 residential buildings. In 1961 Heubach had 243 residents and 47 residential buildings. In 1970 there were 273 residents and in 1987 281 residents and 67 residential buildings with 84 apartments.
On July 1, 1972, Heubach was incorporated into Ebern . At the same time, as part of the regional reform, the district of Ebern was dissolved and Heubach came with Ebern to the Haßberg district.
