Fischbach is part of the municipality of the Lower Franconian town of Ebern in the Haßberge district .

geography

The parish village is located in the eastern part of the district about three kilometers north of the former district town of Ebern in a valley through which the Fischbach, which flows into the Baunach, flows. The federal road 279 from Breitengüßbach to Bad Neustadt an der Saale passes here. The ensemble of castle and castle church in the center of the village characterize the townscape.

history

The place name, place on the fish-rich brook, is derived from the Fischbach, a small tributary of the Baunach , at whose source the place is located, or it refers directly to the Baunach.

It was first mentioned in 866, when Ymmina handed over her goods in “Fischebach” to the Fulda monastery . In 1232 it was mentioned in the certificate of division of the Würzburg prince-bishop Hermann , in which Ebern was separated from the parish of Pfarrweisach and "Vilpach" remained with Pfarrweisach.

Fischbach has probably belonged to the von Rotenhan family since the beginning of the 13th century . In 1317/22 Wolfram von Rotenhan received the Rotenhagen Castle and the court in “Vispach” as a fief . In 1686 the Rotenhan administration was based in Rentweinsdorf and Fischbach.

In 1862, the rural community of Fischbach, which had been independent since 1818 , consisting of the parish village of Fischbach and the hamlet of Hochstätten, was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian district office of Ebern .

The 588.41 hectare parish had 273 residents in 1871, of whom 271 were Protestant and 2 were Catholic, and 58 were residential buildings. 212 people lived in Fischbach. The Protestant denominational school was located in the neighboring village of Eyrichshof, 2.5 kilometers away . In 1897 Fischbach was connected to the railway network with the Breitengüßbach – Maroldsweisach railway line.

In 1900 Fischbach had 181 residents and 37 residential buildings. The parish seat was in Eyrichshof. In 1925 the Fischbach community had 211 inhabitants, 202 of whom were Protestant. 153 people lived in 37 residential buildings in the parish of Fischbach.

In 1950 Fischbach had 222 residents and 36 residential buildings. The Catholics belonged to the parish of Pfarrweisach. In 1952 a school building was built. In 1961 the church village had 197 residents and 38 residential buildings. In 1970 there were 196 and 1987 173 inhabitants and 46 residential buildings with 53 apartments.

On January 1, 1972, the community of Fischbach was incorporated into Ebern. On July 1, 1972, as part of the regional reform, the Ebern district was dissolved and Fischbach became part of the Haßberg district.

The Protestant residents belong to the district of the parish Eyrichshof with parish seat in Fischbach, the Catholic to the district of the parish of St. Laurentius in Ebern.

On May 27, 1988, passenger traffic was stopped on the railway line between Ebern and Maroldsweisach. Freight traffic was carried out until November 21, 2001. In 2003 the tracks were closed and dismantled.

Evangelical Lutheran parish and castle church

The castle is a two-storey hipped roof building with two round stair towers. The core of the castle is a new building from 1530, which was expanded in 1605 and changed by dismantling the upper floors in 1707. After the Second World War, one floor was added again.

The Evangelical Lutheran parish and castle church was built from 1756 to 1761. The building, designed with ashlar elements in sandstone, is a white-plastered classical hall building with a five-axis longitudinal facade, a truncated gable facade and a roof turret with an onion helmet.

A total of three architectural monuments are listed in the Bavarian list of monuments .
