Unterpreppach is a church village and has been a district of Ebern in the Haßberge district / administrative district of Lower Franconia since 1972 .

geography

Unterpreppach is located west of Ebern in a side valley of the Baunach , directly on the state road 2278 , the main connection between Ebern and the district town of Haßfurt, about 25 kilometers away . The ruin "Raueneck" , a place for excursions, sits enthroned northwest of the village on the 430 meter high "Haubeberg" .

history

The place name means "at the broad stream" and refers to the wider valley of a body of water. In connection with a prominent point in the area, the addition Nieder- and, in the course of the 16th century, Unter- was added. The first mention was in 1232 in the certificate of division of the Würzburg prince-bishop Hermann , in which Ebern was separated from the parish Pfarrweisach and "Breitbach" came to Ebern.

The political municipality was founded in 1818. Ruppach , Vorbach and Reutersbrunn were part of it before Vorbach (1821) and Reutersbrunn (1828) became independent municipalities. At that time there were a total of 51 families with 197 inhabitants.

In 2015 Unterpreppach had about 500 inhabitants. The town has belonged to Ebern as the largest district since 1972.

coat of arms

The town's coat of arms was designed in 1998 by district home administrator Günter Lipp :

Description of coat of arms ( blazon ): Golden shield, the upper third wave-shaped separated in blue (for the old name Unter-Breitbach "Unter dem broad Bach"). In the center a waving red standard (as a reference to earlier pilgrimages), with a white cross (red-white for Franconia), on the edge three linden leaves (the leaves stand for the three old Preppach districts of Vorderdorf, Oberdorf, Sandhof and three new districts, the Settlements Nägeleinsberg, Sonnenleite and Sümpflein ).
