Gemünd is a part of the municipality of the Lower Franconian town of Ebern in the Haßberge district .

geography

The hamlet is located in the eastern part of the district, six kilometers west of Ebern, in a side valley of the Baunach through which the Preppach flows. The national road 2278 , the main link between boars and the district center about 25 kilometers away Haßfurt , passes through the place.

history

The place name probably goes back to the confluence of several small streams southwest of the hamlet. This was called "gemünde" in Middle High German .

The first documentary mention was in 1232 in the certificate of division of the Würzburg Bishop Hermann , in which Ebern was separated from the parish Pfarrweisach and among other things "Beminde" came to the parish Ebern. In 1244 Ludwig von Raueneck gave the bishop of Würzburg goods in the village of "Gemunde". In 1433 the von Rotenhan family had a farm in "Gemünde". ,

In 1862 the rural community of Welkendorf was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian district office of Ebern . The community consisted of three places Welke village, the 1.0 km distant village Gemünd and 1.5 kilometers from desert Gemündermühle and counted in 1871 98 people, of which 32 Catholics and 66 Protestants and 20 residential buildings. The 38 inhabitants of the hamlet of Gemünd belonged to the Catholic and Protestant parish in Jesserndorf , which is 2.0 kilometers away, and where the two denominational schools were also located. In 1900 the place had 28 residents and 4 residential buildings. In 1925, 80 people, 20 of whom were Catholics, lived in 17 residential buildings in the 268.61 hectare community of Welkendorf. Gemünd had 27 residents and 6 residential buildings.

In 1950, the hamlet of Gemünd, 1.0 kilometers away from Welkendorf, had 31 residents and 5 residential buildings. In 1961 Gemünd had 24 residents and 5 residential buildings. In 1970 there were 20 residents and in 1987 21 residents and 5 residential buildings with 7 apartments.

On July 1, 1972, the district of Ebern was dissolved as part of the regional reform and Welkendorf came with Gemünd to the Haßberg district. On January 1, 1978, the municipality of Welkendorf with its districts, the hamlet of Gemünd and the wasteland of Gemündermühle, was incorporated into Ebern.
