history
The first known documentary mention of Leuzendorf dates back to 1233. The first known documentary mention of Leuzendorf Castle comes from 1385 .
Over time, the place was enfeoffed several times by the Würzburg monastery to members of the Fuchs zu Burgpreppach family. When Sigmund Fuchs zu Burgpreppach died in 1545 without a male successor, Leuzendorf was divided between his widow and eight daughters. When one of the daughters was able to unite all shares by 1592, the place went to the Lords of Erthal .
Under the Lords of Erthal, Leuzendorf was Protestant until the place raised the Catholic faith of Daniel Christian von Erthal zu Leuzendorf, who died in the Great Turkish War in 1688, under Prince Bishop Johann Gottfried von Guttenberg .
From 1730 onwards, one of the sons, Dietrich Carl von Erthal, reorganized community life in Leuzendorf. Under his aegis, the construction of the early Rococo style St. Michael Church began in 1732 , which was inaugurated on April 14, 1735 by Würzburg Auxiliary Bishop Johann Bernhard Mayer.
After the Erthal family in 1780, Leuzendorf went to the Lords of Schrottenberg in 1805 .
On July 1, 1972, Leuzendorf became part of Burgpreppach as part of the municipal reform.
