The naming and its possible interpretations

There are different interpretations of the place name:

  • Unfind, because the place was not found and only became visible at the last moment
  • Count Unvianus 863-891, had his seat on the Bramburg (founder name)
  • Engilhart and Sizzo from Unifundin could also have been namesake
  • Un-fundus, because there was no soil here, only swamp and water
  • infundere-infunde vinum rcl zercuisiam - because there is a good drink here. Visible on the keystone above the gate at the town hall

history

The first documentary mention goes back to the year 1241. Unfind is in the settlement area of the Wends , therefore it is assumed that Unfind was founded by this Slavic tribe as early as the 9th century. Unfind was a Ganerbendorf , feudal knights and clergymen had their landholdings there , there were 84 feudal estates. The last liege lord was the Duke of Saxony-Coburg-Gothaische Justizrat Johann Christoph Segnitz von Schmalfelden (house, crypt). Unfinding belonged provisionally to the Grand Duchy of Würzburg since the contract of July 16, 1807 , finally to Bavaria since 1814 and was separated from the Saxon enclave of Königsberg by a customs station (commander and 6 men) . The formerly independent unfinding area was incorporated into Königsberg as part of the regional reform on January 1, 1972.

Worth seeing

Seeing nowhere from the hut

Impressive half-timbered houses from the 18th century with rich coats of arms and plaster ornamentation adorn the village. The development of Franconian courtyard forms from three-sided courtyards to four-sided courtyards can be traced in the well-preserved rural houses of the Koch, Lutsch and Brochloß families. The Koch property (Dreiseithof) bears the “von Hutten” coat of arms and contains a device display, the Lutsch property (four-sided courtyard) has a family coat of arms and the Brochloß (Vierseithof) property bears the “von Truchseß” coat of arms. The keystone at the town hall entrance with the inscription "Unfind", Weintraube, Hippe and the measuring stick for Öchsle indicates the importance of viticulture in Unfind in the 17th century. In the 21st century, some Unfindner winemakers have revived their skills in viticulture with great success.

Current

On January 12, 2008, after around 50 years, the art of brewing beer was reactivated in the extensively renovated brewery.
