Ensembles
Ensemble Altstadt Haßfurt with Oberer Vorstadt
In the flat Main Valley, located on a threshold at the confluence of the Nassach and Main rivers, the Haßfurt ford settlement is one of the oldest in Haßgau. The town, which is still medieval today, was built as a planned re-establishment of the 13th century, which adjoined the oldest settlement core, the Obere Vorstadt, to the west: a fishing settlement was built here next to the castle. The old town is a grid-shaped system, formerly surrounded by an almost rectangular bering, which already existed in the 14th century and in the 15th / 16th century. Century had been expanded significantly. The city is cut parallel to the Main in the longitudinal direction by the old connecting road Schweinfurt - Bamberg . The market square opens on the north side, which is not only emphasized in its central location, but also in its delimitation by the parish church and the old town hall ; however, all representative town houses are on the main street. To the south, opposite the town hall, Brückenstraße leads to the Mainbrücke, which divides the city into almost regular quarters. However, the connection over the Main was previously not so centrally oriented, as it led over the narrow Alte Brückenstraße through the still existing Maintor to the abandoned Mainbrücke. The main street, formerly Steinweg, which was paved as early as 1585, is bounded in the west by the Würzburger Tor and in the east by the group of houses around the Bamberger Tor with the former prince-bishop's tithe barn. The well-preserved street scene is mainly created by two-storey eaves breeches ( arable bourgeois houses ); The eastern half of the street is also characterized by more representative bourgeois buildings, mainly half-timbered houses from the 16th to 18th centuries. Century; to the west, towards the Würzburger Tor, mainly simple baroque or classifying plastered buildings determine the picture. The group of houses at Hauptstrasse 23, 25, 27 and the former 31 (now part of 33) shows buildings from the 19th and early 20th centuries that were integrated into the ensemble. According to the division into quarters, there are four side streets running parallel to the main street: In the north-west quarter the Kaplaneigasse, which with its two-storey, eaves-side farm houses with gate entrances, preserves the type of these streets in a particularly characteristic way, in addition to which an older paving without sidewalks has been preserved here; Schlesingerstraße in the north-east quarter still shows its typical character, although modernization has spread particularly strongly here; Likewise, the arable bourgeois development on Häckergasse in the south-west quarter can still be seen despite renovations and new buildings; the Zwerchmaingasse in the south-east quarter not only has a number of the characteristic arable bourgeois houses, but also an architectural and meaningful focus of the city due to the building group of the former prince-bishop's office building with bulk floor and the district court building . The street grid is complemented by the north-south running alleys, which, in keeping with their importance as mere connecting alleys, are largely limited only by ancillary buildings of the main alleys and streets. The suburb to the east is now essentially the triangular square known as the "Upper Suburb", bounded by two rows of houses converging on the Bamberger Tor, here severely disturbed by modern shopfitting. The knight's chapel, which was mentioned in 1339 as a parish church outside the city, forms the eastern end of the square with the hospital building next to it. The actual suburban area extends between this square and the Main. Except for a few remains of the city wall and the three city gates, the Bering was removed and converted from the second half of the 18th century. So a horticultural designed promenade was created under the direction of Baron von Klenk, which continues to limit the old town in the north and also separates it from the railway line that has been tangent here since the middle of the 19th century. The railway connection entailed an urban upgrade, which can be seen in the construction of new buildings, especially along Bahnhofstrasse and the promenade. The ensemble is delimited as follows: Promenade, Bahnhofsweg, Friedhofsweg, eastern border of the cemetery, and gardens at Obere Vorstadt 17 and 19, Am Fröschgraben / rear property boundaries on the east side, Fischerrain, Main course, Ringstrasse from No. 18 to Untere Vorstadt . File number: E-6-74-147-1.

Remarks
- ↑ This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The property of a monument - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the Monument Atlas and the entry in the Bavarian Monument List. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
