history
District Office
The Neuburg District Office followed the Neuburg Regional Court of the same area in 1862 .
On the occasion of the reform of the layout of the Bavarian district offices, the Neuburg an der Donau district office received 38 municipalities from the Aichach district office (the Rain district, also the district court district ) and seven municipalities from the Donauwörth district office on January 1, 1880 . At the same time, nine municipalities were assigned to the Ingolstadt district office .
district
On January 1, 1939, the uniform designation Landkreis was introduced in the German Reich . So the district office became the district of Neuburg an der Donau.
On April 1, 1940, the independent city of Neuburg an der Donau was incorporated into the district. This was reversed on May 1, 1948.
With effect from July 1, 1972, the district was dissolved as part of the regional reform in Bavaria :
- The communities Echsheim , Kühnhausen , Reicherstein , Schorn and Wiesenbach came to the Augsburg-Ost district , which on May 1, 1973 was named Aichach-Friedberg district .
- The communities Heimpersdorf , Neukirchen , Oberbaar , Thierhaupten and Unterbaar came to the Augsburg-West district , which on May 1, 1973 was named Augsburg district .
- The town of Rain and the communities of Bayerdilling , Bergendorf , Etting , Feldheim , Gempfing , Holzheim , Mittelstetten , Münster , Niederschönenfeld , Oberpeiching , Pessenburgheim , Riedheim , Sallach , Stadel , Staudheim , Unterpeiching , Wächtering and Wallerdorf came to the district of Nördlingen-Donauwörth , the May 1, 1973 was named the district of Donau-Ries .
- All other municipalities and thus the largest part of the district were combined with the largest part of the dissolved district of Schrobenhausen and the previously independent city of Neuburg an der Donau to form the new district of Neuburg an der Donau, which was assigned to the administrative district of Upper Bavaria and on May 1, 1973 was named the district of Neuburg-Schrobenhausen .
