The place name appears only slightly modified: Hasalbach (1002), Haselbach (1214), Haselpach (1230), Haselnach (1270), Haselach (1289), Haslpach (1498), Haßlpach (1663), Haslbach (1671), then Haselbach. In the local West Central Bavarian dialect, the place is called Hoslbooch .

The oldest landlord in Haselbach was Monheim Monastery , which then handed the place over to the Barons von Gumppenberg from Pöttmes . Later the Pappenheimer owned property in Haselbach. Later the landlords were the Gumppenberger, the Wittelsbacher and the Sandizeller .

The Catholic parish of Sankt Michael belongs to the parish community Ehekirchen. The church building has a tower from 1500 and a nave from the 2nd half of the 18th century. There is also a valuable epitaph in the church . The parish church of Sankt Stephan in neighboring Weidorf also belongs to the parish of Haselbach .

After the First World War , the future writer Arthur Maximilian Miller completed a teaching internship at the Haselbach elementary school. The book The year of maturity refers to the living conditions at that time in Haselbach ( called Abenberg in the novel ) and as a young teacher.
