Weidorf is a part of the community Ehekirchen in the Upper Bavarian district of Neuburg-Schrobenhausen . With around 300 inhabitants, it is one of the larger districts of the municipality. The place with some larger farms is located in a valley south of Kugelholz. In the west of the village are the sources of two streams on a watershed .

Surname

There are two different variants of the etymological origin of Weidorf: Josef Heider assumes that Weidorf goes back to Dorf des Wiho . Prof. Puchern is of the opinion that Weiberdorf is the origin of the place name. In the local West Central Bavarian dialect, the place is called Weidårf .

history

The first mention was in 1150 in the person of Ulschalch de Wihedorff , who was named as a witness for the Indersdorf monastery . In 1240 Ludwig the Bavarian donated a farm in Wibedorf to the Niederschönenfeld monastery. The church was first mentioned in 1300 (the nave had to be renewed in 1900; the church was restored in 1954). On October 20, 1507, Duke Albrecht IV. Wolfgang von Gumppenberg gave the Stainhub zu Weidorf as a fief, owned by Steffen Grenwold. 1557 Weidorf was Baron Gumppenberg the lower courts granted.

The Catholic branch church Sankt Stephan belongs to the parish of Sankt Michael in neighboring Haselbach . In 1970 the church received a new nave .

On May 1, 1978, Weidorf was incorporated into Ehekirchen as part of the municipal reform.
