history

The name Hollenbach is derived from a hollow brook (deeply cut brook). Through the years it was called Holanpach , Holanpahe , Holapach , Holnpach , Holenpach , Holenbach and finally Hollenbach from 1700 onwards . In the local West Central Bavarian dialect, the place is called Huinbooch .

Hollenbach was mentioned in a document as early as 864, when Bishop Anno von Freising exchanged the Maierhof from Count Cotascalc (Gottschalk) . The entire settlement of Hollenbach started from this farm. In 890 Waldo von Freising exchanged the extensive Hollenbacher possessions with the nobleman Erchanfried for Freising possessions. The Tegernsee monastery also had connections to Hollenbach at that time, as can be seen from the church patron Quirinus von Tegernsee . In 920, Duke Arnulf of Bavaria confiscated the Tegernsee property to equip his horse armies and did not return them. In the 11th and 12th centuries Hollenbach belonged to the Counts of Andechs-Dießen , in 1300 the entire village with the newly founded Hofmark then belonged to the Benedictine convent in Neuburg , which remained so until the monastery was dissolved by Ottheinrich in 1552 . The Hofmark belonged to the Jesuit College in Neuburg until 1773 and then to the Malteserballei Neuburg until 1808 .

The Catholic parish Sankt Quirinus in Hollenbach belongs to the parish community Ehekirchen and includes the subsidiary churches Sankt Michael in Fernmittenhausen and Sankt Sebastian in Nähermittenhausen .

Until July 1, 1972, the independent municipality of Hollenbach belonged to the district of Neuburg an der Donau and then fell to the enlarged district of Neuburg an der Donau as part of the regional reform in Bavaria , which was renamed the district of Neuburg-Schrobenhausen on May 1, 1973 . On May 1, 1978, the place was incorporated into the community Ehekirchen. Small parts of the area were reclassified to Königsmoos .
