This was awarded by Emperor Ludwig the Bavarian in 1310 and existed until the great reorganization of the judiciary in the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1808. The "Galgenberg" north of Pöttmes still bears witness to this high court. In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria, today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .
