geology

With over 160 hectares, the Inchenhofener Rossmoos is one of the largest contiguous fens in the Aichach-Friedberg district. It owes its formation to high groundwater levels and numerous spring outlets in the valley of the Inchenhofen Moosgraben and the Schreierbach. The vegetation of the humid lowlands used to consist of dense reeds and sedges, which were surrounded on the edge by alder forests. Dead plant parts and roots could not completely decompose in the wet or water-covered soil. As a result, large amounts of organic matter accumulated as peat . Since the beginning of peat formation, less than 10,000 years ago, layers of peat up to 2.6 m thick have been deposited. With the intensive agricultural use and drainage of the swampy valley for about 200 years, the peat growth ended. Since then the moor has shrunk by more than a meter. Until the middle of the 20th century, the peat, a preliminary stage to lignite, was also dug up (pricked), dried and burned. Today the importance of the Roßmoos for nature and landscape protection is recognized more and more. Near-natural area design measures and limited moor regeneration are intended to improve the overall ecological situation of the Roßmoos and create a habitat for rare plants and animals again.

history

Until the church is planted

Inchenhofen was first mentioned in the 11th century as Imichinhouen and Imechenhouen . Cistercian monks from the Fürstenfeld monastery supervised the important pilgrimage on site from 1283 to 1803 . The Inchenhofen market belonged to the Munich Rent Office and the Aichach Regional Court of the Electorate of Bavaria . Inchenhofen had a market court with its own magistrate rights since 1400. In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria , today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .

20th century

The place was Upper Bavarian until 1972 . Only in the course of the regional reform was the municipality assigned to the administrative district of Swabia in 1972 .

The Inchenhofen administrative community existed from May 1, 1978 to December 31, 1993.

Incorporations

On January 1, 1972, the previously independent municipality of Oberbachern was incorporated. On January 1, 1978, Sainbach and areas of the dissolved communities Haslangkreit and Unterbernbach were added.
