location

Schiltberg is located approx. 10 km east of the district town of Aichach as the easternmost municipality in the district in the charming forest and hilly landscape of the Wittelsbacher Land . Schiltberg is part of the Augsburg planning region .

nature

The Weilach flows through Schiltberg . In 1988 the unregulated Weilach valley was elevated to the status of a landscape protection area . The local mountain is the Hofberg at 503 m above sea level. NHN.

The area around Schiltberg is nicknamed Holzland . The so-called woodland mainly includes the Schiltberger Forest in the eastern municipality and the Postbauern Forest in the west.

history

prehistory

With several prehistoric hilltop settlements , including on the Budelberg near Aufhausen and on the Hofberg near Schiltberg, a fully developed cultivated land could be recognized as early as the Bronze Age . Neolithic and Bronze Age ceramic shards from the Hofberg in Schiltberg prove the existence of prehistoric hill settlements. In Schiltberg's south-west, the people of the Urnfield Age also left clear calling cards in the form of clay pots and cast bronze cakes. The barrows in the Schiltberger Forest date back to the Hallstatt period. An iron short sword from today's Bsuchweg on the slope of the Bsuch hill reminds of the Bavarians . During the time of the Hungarian invasions , the residents of the surrounding villages built a refuge on the Budelberg near Holzhausen . The castle stables, ramparts and moats were preserved as remains of the railing.

The place and the woodland gained national fame through the former castle on the Hofberg (around 1000 to around 1450), in which the influential Marschalken von Schiltberg temporarily resided. Between 1224 and 1284, the Marschalken were military leaders and court officials of the Wittelsbach Count Palatine and Dukes.

Schiltberg belonged to the Munich Rent Office and the Aichach Regional Court of the Electorate of Bavaria . In the course of the administrative reforms in the Kingdom of Bavaria , today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .

Incorporations

In the course of the regional reform in Bavaria in the 1970s, the previously independent municipalities of Aufhausen (on July 1, 1970), Allenberg (on January 1, 1971), Ruppertszell (on January 1, 1972) and Rapperzell (on July 1, 1972 ) incorporated into Schiltberg.

The community council of Schiltberg has been composed of the 1st mayor and twelve councilors of the Christian Social Union in Bavaria (CSU) / Free Voting Community (FW) / Non-Party Voting Community (PW) since 2008 . The municipal council has an audit committee.

The coat of arms description of the coat of arms used since 1970 reads: Divided by blue and silver; Above each other three continuous, vertical silver diamonds, below a continuous black paw cross.

The silver diamonds in the municipal coat of arms are taken from the coat of arms of the marshals of Schiltberg. They are reminiscent of the important local aristocracy, which belonged to the closest circle of the ducal Bavarian ministerials of the 12th and 13th centuries. The family had properties in the near and far, they reached into the Upper Inn Valley, including the Peissenberg Castle. At that time, the place Schiltberg formed the center of power of this extensive property complex. Until after the Second World War, the community prayed for Count Berchtold von Schiltberg every Sunday in remembrance of the dead. The Tatzenkreuz represents the Teutonic Order Commander Blumenthal , who belonged to the community . The Lords of Schiltberg were very close to the order and gave it generous donations. The field colors silver and blue are reminiscent of the Bavarian sovereignty.

Catholic parish church St. Maria Magdalena in Schiltberg

The church was built in 1773 with the inclusion of the medieval tower. The tower is a square tower with a pointed spire between triangular gables. The painting in the choir room (above the altar) depicts Mary Magdalene anointing Jesus' feet at the Last Supper. The high altar and probably also the side altars were built in 1782 in the late Rococo style by Johann Anton Wiest.

The parish is headed by Pastor Szymula Marek P. Filial churches are Maria Königin in Allenberg and St. Markus in Rapperzell.

Hofbergtheater

The open-air stage of the Hofbergtheater is located on the site of the former castle stable . Since 1953 the Hofberg Open Air Theater Association has carried out knight games and open air theater performances there. The backdrop was built from 1977. Since 1980 regular events of the Hofbergverein have taken place there. At first these were jousting games. From 1991 literary works such as Romeo and Juliet and Wilhelm Tell were presented. The Hofbergverein also maintains close relationships with its partner association in Schwertberg.

Rapperzell Castle

The community owes a castle building (around 1700) in Rapperzell to a Rapperzell Hofmarks owner .

According to official statistics, there were twelve employees at the place of work in the field of agriculture and forestry, 72 in the manufacturing sector and 16 in trade and transport. The municipality can be reached via well-developed district roads (AIC 3, AIC 2 and AIC 7) and has a connection to the A8 (Munich - Stuttgart) and A9 (Munich - Nuremberg) motorways via the B300 federal road in half an hour . It is 6.4 km to Kühbach, 10 km to Aichach, 12.9 km to Schrobenhausen and 32.2 km to Dachau . Augsburg is 36.5 km away.

Public transport by bus and train

The bus line 243 (Aichach - Oberwittelsbach - Schiltberg - Metzenried) of the Augsburg Transport and Tariff Association (AVV) connects Schiltberg with Aichach. The nearest train station is Radersdorf on the Augsburg – Ingolstadt line ( Paartalbahn ), eight kilometers north-west of Schiltberg. The Altomünster train station (connection to the Munich transport and tariff network as S2) is also eight kilometers away.
