Tourism and sightseeing

  • The church and the rectory
  • The first tourist action in Guggisberg is the building of a staircase to the Guggershorn by the star landlord Blaser in 1828 .
  • The Guggisber link , a melancholy Swiss folk song, was first mentioned in 1741 and, as interpreted by Stephan Eicher , became internationally known (1989). The song is based on the following story, which is told in Guggisberg:
In the village of Guggisberg, at the foot of the Guggershorn, is the stately Linde farm, where the Vreneli lived. Unfortunately, it lost its father early on. The Ammann on the "Zelg" assisted the widow and her minor daughter with help and advice. He would have liked to have united the two beautiful farms by marrying his son with the Linden daughter. But too late: Vreneli had made another choice early on: she loved Simes Hans-Joggeli, son of Simon, who lived “änet dem Bärg”, that is, behind the Guggershorn to Wahlenhaus, on the shady side.
The small farmer's son was a thorn in the side of the wealthy Ammanns son. He wanted to make his uninvited rival clear about his demands on the pretty young Linden daughter, and one evening he ambushed him. But the downside builder was stronger and the Ammanns son remained unconscious after an unfortunate fall. Hans-Joggeli believed he was dead. In desperation, he fled and was recruited into foreign military service. That was the only solution for him to avoid conviction. Vreneli was left with his love, his longing, his loyalty and we were left with the song that touches our hearts.
