Thürnen ( Swiss German : Türne , [ ˈdyrnə ]) is a municipality in the district of Sissach in the canton of Basel-Landschaft in Switzerland .
geography
Thürnen is located southeast of Sissach on the banks of the Homburgerbach , a tributary of the Ergolz . The village lies at the foot of the lower Hauenstein , which leads to Olten .
The municipality of Thürnen borders Sissach in the northwest , Böckten in the northeast, Gelterkinden in the east, Diepflingen in the southeast , Wittinsburg and Tenniken in the south and Zunzgen in the west .
history
Thürnen was first mentioned in a document in 1101 as Durnum .
traffic
Although the old Hauensteinbahn line runs right through the village, Thürnen does not have its own train station. The Sissach train station is less than a kilometer from the village center and the community is also connected to the public transport network by bus line 108.
