Zeglingen is a municipality in the district of Sissach in the canton of Basel-Landschaft in Switzerland .

Zeglingen is north of the Jura chain at the southern end of the Eital . The Eibach , one of the main tributaries of the Ergolz, rises in the area of ​​the municipality .

The municipality of Zeglingen borders in the north on Kilchberg and Wenslingen , in the northeast on Oltingen , in the east on Rohr ( SO ), in the southeast on Lostorf ( SO ), in the southwest on Wisen ( SO ), and in the west on Häfelfingen and Rünenberg .

history

The first documentary mention of Zeglingen dates from 1358 as Zegningen .

Traces from the Bronze and Iron Age were found on the Hochebel. In 1372 the village belonged to the Thierstein-Farnsburg rule , which was acquired by the city of Basel in 1461 . Until the Helvetic Revolution in 1798, Zeglingen belonged to the Farnsburg office and then came to the Sissach district . Together with the district of Sissach, Zeglingen became part of the canton of Basel-Landschaft, which was newly founded in 1833, after the canton was divided.
