Tenniken is located in the valley floor of the Diegtertal, on the slope of the upper Gisiberges. Neighboring communities are Diegten , Diepflingen , Hölstein , Thürnen , Wittinsburg and Zunzgen .

history

In 1226 Tenniken was first mentioned as Tenninchon . After belonging to the rule of Eschenz, the ownership structure at the beginning of the 15th century was unclear. Basel and Solothurn were interested. In 1482, the rule of Basel fell. From 1798 Tenniken belonged to the Waldenburg district, after the cantonal separation it was attached to the Sissach district.

coat of arms

Tenniken has had an official coat of arms since 1944. It is divided into two halves by a vertical line. On the left there is a Gothic T on a gold background, on the right there are three black slashes on a silver background. The coat of arms was adopted by the Eschenz rulership, to which the municipality once belonged.
