history
The village was first mentioned in 1102 as Runachperh and was then called Runenberg in 1454. The Roman road, which connected Sommerau with Zeglingen , led via Rünenberg. In 1392, the Bishop of Basel enfeoffed Count Hermann von Thierstein with the court of Rünenberg. Rünenberg was one of the five places in which the regional courts of Sisgau met in the open air. 1461 Rünenberg came to the city of Basel , in the Helvetic Republic to district Gelterkinden and 1803 in Basel Canton separation in 1833 to half-canton of Basel-Country and District Sissach.
