Tecknau is a municipality in the district of Sissach in the canton of Basel-Landschaft in Switzerland .

geography

Tecknau lies in the Eital at 438  m above sea level. M. at the north portal of the Hauenstein base tunnel .

  • Area : 235  ha , of which 60% forest, 26% agriculture, 14% settlements.

The municipality of Tecknau borders Ormalingen in the northeast, Wenslingen in the east, Kilchberg in the south, Rünenberg in the west and Gelterkinden in the northwest .

history

Cave bears lived in the area early on , and Tegnow was first mentioned in 1296 . In the Middle Ages the place belonged to Homberg and Frohburg and later to Thierstein and Farnsburg . In 1461 Tecknau came to Basel . After the revolution in 1798 it belonged to the Gelterkinden district and later came to the Sissach district. It became known as a tunnel village from 1912 to 1916 when the Hauenstein base tunnel was built.

Tecknau has an S-Bahn station and is on the Hauenstein railway line with the Hauenstein base tunnel towards Olten - Bern / Lucerne and towards Sissach - Liestal - Basel . In addition, the village is accessible with a post bus line to Gelterkinden.
