Location of the municipality

Vechigen is a municipality in the Bern-Mittelland administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.

The municipality of Vechigen is located approx. 10 km east of the Swiss federal city of Bern . The villages: Boll / Sinneringen, Vechigen, Lindental, Dentenberg, Utzigen, Littewil, Radelfingen and Lauterbach belong to it. Neighboring communities are Bolligen , Hasle bei Burgdorf , Krauchthal , Muri bei Bern , Oberburg BE , Stettlen , Walkringen and Worb .

The village of Vechigen is slightly off the main road. The highest point in the community is the Schönbrunnenchnubel at 956  m above sea level. The lowest point is the Worble at 550  m above sea level. M. trip locations include the Bantiger at Ferenberg and the Mänziwilegg whether Utzigen, and the church in Vechigen.

Vechigen has two stations on the Worb Dorf – Worblaufen railway , a meter -gauge railway operated by RBS . The Boll-Utzigen train station is in the center of Boll, the Vechigen train station below the church. The S7 line of the Bern S-Bahn leads to Worb and Bern. There is also a post bus connection to the higher parts of the municipality. Bernmobil also runs a night bus line ( Moonliner ) to Boll-Utzigen station.

• Schlössli Sinneringen: The country estate above the village was owned by the Dünki, then that of Diesbach ; Hans Rudolf von Diesbach had the so-called Schlössli built in 1729. It was later owned by the von Bonstetten barons .
• Utzigen Castle

Personalities

• Samuel Johann Pauli (1766–1821), Swiss inventor, invented a. a. the world's first man-made airship. In 1802 he drew the first draft of his “Flying Fish” (later called “Flying Dolphin” in England), which Count Zeppelin served as a model a hundred years later .
• Rudolf Schatzmann (1822–1886), Swiss pastor, farmer and agricultural functionary lived in Vechigen, where he began to work as an agricultural reformer.
