Until December 31, 2010, Wahlern was a political municipality in the Bern-Mittelland administrative district of the canton of Bern in Switzerland .
There is currently a civil parish and an Evangelical Reformed parish under the name Wahlern .
Since January 1, 2011, the municipality has merged with the municipality of Albligen under the new name Schwarzenburg .
geography
Schwarzenburg lies in the pre-Alps east of the Sense .
The largest town, Schwarzenburg , is particularly well-known , among other things as the location of the former Schwarzenburg shortwave transmitter .
Schwarzenburg was until December 31, 2009 the main town of the Schwarzenburg district of the same name . This was lifted in the course of the administrative reform and the former communities (Albligen, Guggisberg , Rüschegg and Wahlern) now belong to the Bern-Mittelland administrative district.
In addition, the former community has many hamlets. The largest are Lanzenhäusern and stone Brünnen . The individual villages in the municipality are called Schwarzenburg (main town), Lanzen houses , Mamishaus and Milken .
politics
The municipal council (executive) consists of 7 members (as of 2010). The political parties represented are SVP , SP and the local party Wahlern Left of Center (WLM). Mayor is Ruedi Flückiger, SP (legislature 2009–2012). The community assembly or the urn community form the legislature, Schwarzenburg has no community parliament.
traffic
Schwarzenburg is the terminus of the Bern-Schwarzenburg Railway , which opened in 1907 and is now operated by BLS AG . Lanzenhäuser also has a train station and there is still a stop at the Schwarzwasserbrücke on the border with the municipality of Köniz . There are also several post bus lines and countless bus stops.
schools
In Schwarzenburg there are two primary schools and one secondary school. There are several smaller schoolhouses in the other villages of the municipality. All secondary school students in the former Schwarzenburg district go to school in Schwarzenburg.
Attractions
The Reformed parish church of Wahlern is located a little outside the settlement area. The originally Romanesque building was rebuilt in the late Gothic period and added a choir . The Chäppeli , a chapel in the Schwarzenburg district, dates from 1463 and is characterized by a pyramid tower.
