List of cultural assets in Schwarzenburg

The list of cultural assets in Schwarzenburg contains all objects in the municipality of Schwarzenburg in the canton of Bern that are subject to the Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict , the Federal Act of June 20, 2014 on the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflicts and the Ordinance of June 29 , 2014 October 2014 on the protection of cultural property in the event of armed conflict .

Objects in categories A and B are completely included in the list, objects in category C are currently missing (as of January 1, 2018). Among other monuments protected objects are found, the "worthy of protection" in the canton of Bern Bauinventar than are listed.

The rock castle , which was essentially built around 1220/30, served as the residence of the bailiffs of Freiburg and Bern from 1423 to 1576 , after which it was left to decay. The total system consisting of Vorburg , farm and main castle is, 170 × 54 m in size and is located on a high steep rock spur above the Sense gorge . It is the largest castle ruin in the canton of Bern.

Of reinforced concrete made three-hinged arch bridge over the black water , built in 1932 by Losinger and Cie. , Bern and Gebr. E. & A. Binggeli, Schwarzenburg, based on plans by the engineer Robert Maillart . Very light-looking construction without balustrade in the style typical for Maillart. The only wide, flat arch rests on box girders and has a span of 82 m.

Half of the property is located in the municipality of Schwarzenburg (KGS no. 1318) and Rüeggisberg ( KGS no. 9775 ).

The chapel , consecrated to Maria Magdalena in 1463 , is an undivided late Gothic sacred building with a choir just closing, plastered with white lime mortar . The design of architectural details with tuff stone is characteristic . The clapboard-covered tower from 1535 has the shape of a truncated pyramid with a cube on top.

In the years 1573 to 1576 as a replacement for the abandoned Grasburg castle , with extensions and additions in the 18th and 19th centuries. Three-storey rectangular main building under a high half-hipped roof with a polygonal stair tower and pointed helmet on the eaves side. In the east, crenellated, fortress-like front entrance with square tent roof towers .

The farmhouse , built in 1833, is an extremely stately half-timbered building with two representative façades under a mansard roof with a transverse ridge. The building is set back gable on the street. In between there is a baroque kitchen and ornamental garden with geometric box-tree beds that are symmetrically aligned towards the facing facade.

Built around 1513 memory is a voluminous late Gothic Bohlenblockbau with three chambers steep gabled roof . It has a cantilevered upper floor with clapboard roofs on the gable side and a front arbor covered with planks . The wooden spiral staircase to access the upper floor on the northwest side is unique in the region.

Truss bridge over the Sense , built in 1867 with a gable roof , used as a pedestrian bridge since 1980. The American design with Howe beams is unusual , in which the compression struts are made of wood and the tension struts are made of iron. The abutments are made of hewn tuff , the span is 43 m. The bridge portals are designed in the Swiss wood style.

Half of the property is located in the municipality of Schwarzenburg (KGS no. 1321) and St. Antoni in the canton of Friborg ( KGS no. 2315 )

The core is a Romanesque medieval church building, with a choir and tower from 1511 and a nave from the first quarter of the 16th century. The building has an elevated, polygonal closed choir with a ribbed vault , the spire was renewed in 1894, and the interior has baroque furnishings.

In 1882 by the company G. Ott & Cie. built truss arch bridge over the Schwarzwasser , based on a project by Jules Röthlisberger and Paul Simons . Its length is 167 m, its span 114 m and its height 80 m. Embossed limestone blocks were used for the arched supports, pedestals and roadway abutments . The concrete arch railway bridge from 1979 runs parallel to this.

Steinerne Schwarzwasserbrücke

The stone arch bridge over the Schwarzwasser , built in 1832, replaced a covered, wooden previous building from the 16th century. Its length is 30 m, its width around 5 m and its arch span 17.6 m. The substructure and the abutments consist of tuff stone blocks , the parapets were originally made of sandstone and were replaced by concrete elements during the last renovation in 1998/99.

Former transmission system of the post, telephone and telegraph companies , in operation from 1939 to 1998. All but one of the transmission masts were blown up; The company building, which is now used as the depot of the Museum for Communication Bern , was also preserved.
