The Federal Roads Office FEDRO ( French Office fédéral des routes OFROU , Italian Ufficio federale delle strade USTRA , Romansh Uffizi federal da vias UVIAS ) is a federal authority in Switzerland .
It was founded in 1998 and is the Swiss specialist authority for road infrastructure and individual road traffic . The primary aim of FEDRO is to «ensure the functionality of the national roads and main road network». The Federal Roads Office is subordinate to the Federal Department for the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communication DETEC .
