Sandie Marie Clotilde Clair (born April 1, 1988 in Toulon ) is a former French track cyclist specializing in short-term disciplines.

Career

In 2005, Sandie Clair was the first French junior sprint champion . As a result, she took podium places in the Junior World Championships and European Championships (youngsters) in sprint, keirin and 500-meter time trials .

2006 Sandie Clair was in Ghent Junior World Champion in the time trial and third in the Sprint; 2007 European champion (U23) again in the time trial. In 2008 she won third place in the time trial at the World Track Championships in Manchester , was two-time European time trial and team sprint champion (with Virginie Cueff ) and a French time trial champion. In 2009 she was able to win two more European championship titles, in the team sprint (with Virginie Cueff) and in the time trial. She has also had good placements in world cup races several times .

In 2010 Clair became European Champion (U23) in the Keirin in Saint Petersburg , and she won bronze in the sprint. In November 2010 she became European sprint and team sprint champion , together with Clara Sanchez . At the UCI Track World Championships in 2011 in Apeldoorn , the Netherlands , she finished second in the time trial.

In 2016 Sandie Clair was nominated to take part in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . In the Keirin she finished 21st and in the sprint place 25th. In the team sprint, she finished sixth together with Virginie Cueff. In August 2019, she announced her retirement from active cycling because the French Cycling Federation did not give her sufficient opportunities to qualify for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo .
