At the national track championships in the same year she was second in the keirin , in the 500-meter time trial and in the team sprint , together with Gnidenko. In 2013, Brezhniva was two-time Russian champion, in keirin and team sprint, with Olga Strelzowa .

At the UEC European Rail Championships 2013 in Apeldoorn , Jelena Breschniwa won the European Championship title in the team sprint together with Olga Strelzowa. In 2014 she was able to repeat this success together with Anastassija Woinowa and also became Vice European Champion in Keirin .

In January 2016, Brezhniva was banned for four years retrospectively from June 2015 onwards because of a doping violation . The Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) did not initially name the type of violation, but it is said to have missed a doping test. It was later revealed that she was supposed to have consumed growth hormone. The Russian national coach assumed that this suspension would mean the end of her cycling career.
