history
The first documentary mention (Loupa) comes from the year 1032. In 1264 the place was conquered by Rudolf von Habsburg . Peter of Savoy followed in 1267 , but Laupen was recaptured by Rudolf von Habsburg in 1269 . In 1275 he gave the place the hand festivities based on the model of the hand festivals of the city of Bern . In 1310 King Henry VII pledged his rights to Laupen to the city of Bern , which after 1324 stationed a bailiff in Laupen. The growing tensions between Bern and Freiburg led to the Laupenkrieg in 1339 between the city of Bern and its Burgundian Confederation on the one hand and Freiburg, supported by the Lords of Burgundy and Habsburg , on the other, from which Bern emerged victorious. In Laupen 600 Bernese were stationed as a crew, whom 6000 Bernese and allies came to the aid, after which the decision was made in the battle on the Bramberg. Queen Agnes of Hungary brokered peace; Laupen stayed with the city of Bern, which has now established itself as the leading regional power in the Aare valley.
In 1356 a chapel of St. Pankraz and Katharina is mentioned as a branch of Neuenegg . Laupen has been its own parish since the Reformation . The present church was rebuilt in the years 1734–1736 and renovated in 1947–1948. Inside there is a renaissance pulpit (around 1660). There is a glass painting by Adolf Kreuzer depicting Rudolf von Erlach , as well as that by Paul Zehnder (1949).

In 1846 the post office in Laupen set up a post office in Marktgasse. In 1855 this filing was elevated to a “bureau”. The stagecoach from Laupen to Flamatt, which was put into operation in 1861, and the new Bern – Balliswil railway line ensured the connection to Bern. The post office in Laupen was expanded to include a telephone exchange in 1893, which was automated in 1936. In 1913, the Laupen post office moved to Bärenplatz, where it is still located today (as of 2017).
