Münchenbuchsee ( Bern German Münchebuchsi [ mʏnχə'bʊχsɪ ], called Buchsi by the locals ) is a municipality in the Bern-Mittelland administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland .
geography
Münchenbuchsee is located around 10 km northwest of Bern .
The Hofwil settlement as well as the Allmend and Waldegg districts belong to Münchenbuchsee .
Neighboring communities are, starting from the north: Deisswil near Münchenbuchsee , Wiggiswil , Moosseedorf , Zollikofen , Kirchlindach , Diemerswil , Schüpfen and Rapperswil .
history
The name Münchenbuchsee was first mentioned in a document in 1180, in a gift from Kuno von Buchsee to the Order of St. John . As a donation, he founds the Johanniterkommende Münchenbuchsee , often imprecisely referred to in the literature as a monastery . The Coming Acquired numerous goods in the area and expanded their rule. After the Reformation in 1528 solves State Bern to come, and oriented in the buildings a bailiwick one. One of the conditions set by Kuno von Buchsee was that no customs office or collection of fees should be set up for crossing the municipality. The postal service should also cost nothing.

Six parties sit in the parliament of Münchenbuchsee, the large municipal council : SVP, SP, BDP, GFL, EPP and FDP. The graphic on the left shows the distribution of seats after the municipal elections on November 27, 2016.
The executive is formed by the municipal council, which has seven members. Since the election on November 27, 2016, it has been made up as follows: 4 SVP, 2 SP, 1 EPP. The council is the mayor before, at present Manfred Waibel (SVP, Booth 2017).
The voting shares of the parties in the 2019 National Council election were: SVP 26.5%, SP 19.0%, GPS 12.3%, glp 11.0%, BDP 8.8%, FDP 8.3%, EPP 6.2 %, CVP 2.6%, EDU 2.2%.

Deaf school
One of the five deaf schools in Switzerland is located in Münchenbuchsee, the Pedagogical Center for Hearing and Language Münchenbuchsee (formerly the Cantonal Speech School).
Special school home
The Mätteli Special School Home Foundation operates a special school home with lessons at all levels from kindergarten, a factory school and residential groups.
Former transmitter system
The first radio station in Switzerland was located in Münchenbuchsee. The plant existed from June 1923 until at least the 1950s. The buildings are now owned by the municipality as a hall and leisure facility. The rooms are used for events of all kinds for 10 to 650 people indoors and up to 1000 people outdoors.
