Life

He studied theology at the University of Bern , became provisional at the school in Burgdorf in 1615 , went to Thun as a helper in 1616 , was ordained there and then became a deacon .

In 1620 he became pastor in Langnau in the Emmental and in 1621 tried to win back the Anabaptists , who had appeared in the canton of Bern since 1525 , for the state church through instruction and friendly treatment .

In 1622 he went to Graubünden as a field preacher for the Bernese during the Bündner turmoil . During his time as pastor in Aarberg , he went to Altstätten on an interim basis from 1631 to 1632 because of the matrimonial and collatur dispute in Thurgau and the Rhine Valley . He then returned to Aarberg and was pastor in Burgdorf from 1652; there, as well as in Aarberg, he was also dean . In 1666 he resigned .

Johann Rudolf Philipp Forer was married to Salome, daughter of the Höchstetten pastor Wolfgang Müslin (1556–1625) and great-granddaughter of the reformer Wolfgang Musculus .
