Interim (Latin for "meanwhile") is the name for a provisional settlement of church or political conditions.

In particular, it is understood to mean three attempts at a preliminary confessional compromise, which were made under the government of Emperor Charles V in Germany between Catholics and Protestants until the decision of a general council , namely:

  1. the Regensburg Interim (1541)
  2. the Augsburg Interim (1548)
  3. the Leipzig Articles (1548), which are polemically referred to as "Leipzig Interim"
