Ocean Village was a brand name of Carnival Corporation & plc for cruise offers in the English-speaking European market between 2003 and 2010 .

Carnival plc, the British subsidiary of the group based in Southampton , England , as owner and operator of the ships Ocean Village and Ocean Village Two, relied on the globally successful concept of great freedom and flexibility in terms of food, clothing and entertainment on board. Beyond the range of the cruise brands Cunard Line and P&O Cruises , which she also oversees, but which are still perceived traditionally and formally, a broader audience between the ages of 30 and 50 and above all families should also be addressed in the British market.

After the group decided to give up the brand, Carnival plc relocated the ships to new routes to Australia and operated them from then on under the P&O Cruises Australia brand .

history

The Ocean Village in front of Dominica

The brand was launched in 2003 and the same year the ship of the same name started a first cruise under the slogan "the cruise for people who don't do cruises" (in German: "The cruise for people who don't do cruises") ). The ship had been in use for several years under the name Arcadia , but was then renovated and freshly painted for the new brand in the almost pure white of P&O Cruises with lively orange and red arches.

From spring 2007 a second ship changed to the colors of Ocean Village. The delivery of several new ships for the German brand AIDA Cruises enabled the group to withdraw the AIDAblu , which has long been the largest ship in the AIDA fleet, for a new assignment. Under the name Ocean Village Two , she went on a cruise from April 24, 2007 in the Mediterranean during the summer and the Caribbean in the winter .

On October 30, 2008, Carnival announced that it would discontinue the Ocean Village brand by the end of 2010. The ships were to be relocated to Australia and used there under the P&O Cruises Australia brand . The Ocean Village Two joined the brand in December 2009, which Ocean Village followed as announced at the end of 2010.
