The Columbus is a cruise ship owned by the Cruise & Maritime Voyages shipping company .

history

The ship was launched on May 28, 1988 at the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire ( France ) as Sitmar FairMajesty . Before commissioning in March 1989, however , the Sitmar shipping company was bought by P&O Princess Cruises on September 1, 1988 and the Sitmar FairMajesty was renamed Star Princess . In 1997 the ship was rebuilt by the British shipyard Harland & Wolff in Belfast and renamed Arcadia . In 2003 it became the first ship of the shipping company of the same name as the Ocean Village .

Since the Carnival Corporation discontinued the Ocean Village brand , the ship was handed over to P&O Cruises Australia in 2010 and renamed Pacific Pearl .

In April 2017, the Pacific Pearl was taken out of service at P&O Cruises Australia and on April 12, 2017 in Singapore by Cruise & Maritime Voyages and renamed Columbus . This was followed by a conversion at Sembcorp Marine Shipyard in Singapore. From May 13, 2017, a renovation took place at the Damen Shipyards Group in Rotterdam . The Columbus has been used by CMV for cruises since June 2017 . On June 8th, the Columbus was baptized in London by Angela Rippon .

Furnishing

The ship has 11 decks with a total of 801 cabins, 64 of which have their own balcony. Between 1578 and 1856 passengers are looked after by 514 crew members.
