That Münchenbuchsee Castle is a castle in the town of Münchenbuchsee in Canton Bern .

history

The castle was built from 1600 to 1603 as the seat of the Bernese bailiff instead of a summer house of the former commandery by Peter and Daniel Heintz (II.). Heinrich Pestalozzi ran his school in the castle for a short time in 1804.

From 1833 to 1884 the first Bernese teachers' seminar was located here, which was held by Pastor Daniel Friedrich Langhans from 1833 to 1834, from 1835 to 1843 by Karl Rikli , 1847 to 1852 by Heinrich Grunholzer , 1852 to 1860 by Heinrich Morf , 1860 to 1880 by Hans- Rudolf Rüegg and from 1880 to 1905 was headed by Pastor Emanuel Martig . In 1884, the seat of the state teachers' college in Bern was relocated to the “Big House” in Hofwil .

Later, an institution for the deaf and dumb was built here, today's center for hearing and language Münchenbuchsee . Münchenbuchsee Castle is owned by the Canton of Bern.
