The Restiturm is the ruin of a hilltop castle in the municipality of Meiringen in the canton of Bern . Its almost square side lengths are 8.6 m and 8.25 m respectively.
history
The original castle was built on a rock fall in the middle of the 13th century and has been expanded several times. Around 1300 the tower was raised. It was the seat of the Knights of Resti, who were fiefs of the Habsburgs .
The facility is located at 662 m above sea level. M. above the Haslital and served as a control of the valley and the trade routes over the Grimselpass , Jochpass , Sustenpass , Grosse Scheidegg and Briinig . In the 16th century the castle was abandoned and fell into disrepair. The facility was restored in 1914 and 2004.
Today only the tower remains. The facility belongs to the non-profit organization Meiringen and is a listed building.

During the last restoration in 2004, a staircase was built inside the tower to use the structure as a lookout tower.
