Toffen Castle
The Schloss Toffen is a castle in the town of Toffen , Canton of Bern , Switzerland .
history
The origin of the castle goes back to a medieval castle, which was first mentioned in a document at the beginning of the 14th century, but was certainly older. Around 1671, Hans Georg von Werdt had it converted into a baroque country house. The interior is characterized by the Renaissance paneling in the carved room from 1633, the pressed leather wallpaper in the Pokuliersaal from the end of the 17th century and the Rococo paintings in the summer hall.
After 1798 the rulership rights in Toffen passed to the canton of Bern, but the castle and the goods belonging to it are still privately owned.
