The Interlaken Castle is a castle in the town of Interlaken in the canton of Bern .

history

In the place of the current building there was an Augustinian monastery , which was first mentioned in 1133. In 1525 the monastery was dissolved during the Reformation and ownership of the monastery went to the state of Bern . In 1748, today's castle was built on the site of the former monastery as the seat of the Bernese bailiff .

Today the castle is the seat of the governor, various offices and the court. The castle has been completely renovated since 2009. The total costs amount to 4.5 million francs.
