Hünigen Castle

The Castle Hünigen is a castle in the town of Konolfingen in the canton of Bern .

A Villa Hünigen as a settlement is mentioned in a document from Pope Eugene III in the 12th century . mentioned. In 1501 the rule of Hans Rudolf von Scharnachtal was acquired. His grandson Niklaus had the present castle building built in the middle of the 16th century, which came to the Bernese patrician family von May in 1588 . It remained in their possession until 1922, when it was acquired by the Evangelical Society of the Canton of Bern .

The Parkhotel Schloss Hünigen is now an upscale seminar, banquet and holiday hotel and was sold to Lark Hill AG based in Wilen TG at the end of 2010 . The Evangelical Community as a seller does not regard the hotel industry as its core task.
