The Landshut Castle is a moated castle in the town of Utzenstorf in Canton Bern , Switzerland .

history

The Zähringische Castle was first referred to as the Landeshuothe in 1253 . Before that there was talk of the county of Utzenstorf (first mentioned in 1009 as comitatus Uranestorfus ). From the end of the 14th century, the Kyburger - the heirs of the Zähringer - pledged parts of the rulership to various creditors. Rudolf von Ringoltingen bought these parts between 1406 and 1418 and united them to form the Landshut rule. At that time, Landshut had all jurisdictions and its own banner. In 1479 Ludwig von Diesbach acquired the rule, which was sold to Bern in 1510 (court Bätterkinden with Aefligen and Schalunen) and 1514 (Utzenstorf, Wiler, Landshut Castle). Bern then established the Landvogtei by adding Zielebach. From 1798 to 1958 Landshut was privately owned

Today the Swiss Museum of Game and Hunting is housed here.
