Ludwig von Diesbach

Ludwig von Diesbach (* 1452 in Godesberg am Rhein, † February 10, 1527 in Bern ) was a Bernese statesman who left autobiographical records, which are among the most important medieval ego documents of the nobility . He comes from the Diesbach patrician family .

As a young man he stayed in Savoy and from 1468 to 1476 at the court of the French King Louis XI. In 1480 he became a member of the Bernese Grand Council , in 1481 of the Council of Sixteen and then Landvogt in Thun , Baden , Neuchâtel and Aigle as well as envoy to the French and imperial courts.

On King Maximilian's move to Italy , he received the accolade in 1496.

His daughter Verena married the Bernese nobleman Kaspar von Mülinen in 1500 . His brother was the Bernese mayor Wilhelm von Diesbach .
